No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Good Health, Clean Water, Economic Growth among JK’s top SDGs by 2030
Srinagar, The government of Jammu and Kashmir directed the line departments to take measures and prepare an actionable time bound framework for improving on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) index, a senior officer told the Associated News Bureau.
By 2030, the J&K government has set SDG targets which include 1) No Poverty, (2) Zero Hunger, (3) Good Health and Well-being, (4) Quality Education, (5) Gender Equality, (6) Clean Water and Sanitation, (7) Affordable and Clean Energy, (8) Decent Work and Economic Growth, (9) Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, (10) Reduced Inequality, (11) Sustainable Development.
According to a report prepared by the Planning, Monitoring and Development Department of J&K government, the UT has finalised 206 indicators and 81 target points as part of its SDG framework with the Niti Aayog.
The 23 indicators are solely specific to Jammu and Kashmir aimed to track the sustainable development
The report reads that J&K has shown improvement on 11 goals and has moved from being a performer to frontrunner in SDG index.
“Under e-samiksha, out of 360 issues to be addressed; only 28 remain to be resolved,” reads the report, the remaining issues are also being addressed on an ongoing basis.
A senior official in the Planning, Monitoring and Development Department said their vision is to prepare developmental plans and tracking performance of various interventions of the Government (Schemes/Programmes/Policies) and providing feedback on various vital issues for effective decision making.
“To take the UT on a Sustainable Development path by ensuring proper planning and robust monitoring in implementation of developmental schemes and programmes,” he added. (ANB)
