Police Organises One Day Training Cum Workshop on IRAD Application

Srinagar, In order to feed comprehensive and quality based data by IOs in IRAD application and to introduce the latest features of the portal, a training cum workshop on Integrated Road Accident Database (IRAD) was organized for Investigation officers (IOs) of all police stations/ police posts at Recreation Hall DPL Shopian.

The IRAD system, developed by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) with support from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, aims to improve the collection, analysis, and response to road accident data.

The training cum workshop focused on how IRAD helps in identifying accident-prone areas, analyzing causes and formulating data-driven policies for accident prevention.

According to the Associated News Bureau, on the occasion, Addl. SP Shopian Shukat Rafiq-JKPS accompanied by SP Hqrs Shopian, DySP PC Keller, DySP DAR Shopian & District Rollout Manager in their addresses, highlighted how IRAD serves as a centralized system for real-time accident data collection and analysis, enabling authorities to take data-driven decisions to reduce accidents and fatalities. They stated, “Accurate accident data is crucial for identifying black spots, understanding causes and formulating preventive measures. IRAD empowers stakeholders with real-time information to enhance road safety policies.”

They also pointed out the importance of collaboration between police, transport and health departments in utilizing IRAD efficiently. They stressed upon training personnel to input data accurately and analyze accident patterns would lead to better infrastructure planning and enforcement measures. (ANB)
