Shankaracharya Temple Witnesses large Devotee Turnout on Maha Shivratri

Srinagar,The historic Shankaracharya Temple atop the Zabarwan Hills in Srinagar witnessed a large gathering of devotees on Wednesday amid wet weather, people thronged the temple to offer prayers on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri. 

According to the Associated News Bureau, from the early hours of the morning, devotees, of all age groups, including women and children, climbed the steep steps leading to the temple. Men, women, and children patiently queued along the temple’s winding stairs, eager to pay their prayers. Speaking to Associated News Bureau, a devotee from Jammu, Pamesh Kumar, expressed his joy at being able to visit the temple on Maha Shivratri. “This is a divine experience. Coming here on this special day fills my heart with immense peace and devotion. I have been visiting Shankaracharya Temple for the past ten years, and every time, it feels like a blessing.”

Apart from local devotees, many visitors also participated in the celebrations, witnessing the grandeur of Maha Shivratri at one of the most revered Hindu shrines in Srinagar. “I had heard about the temple before, but seeing it today, filled with devotees and vibrant energy, is truly unspoken,” said Anita Sharma, a tourist from Mumbai.

As the day unfolded, the temple continued to reverberate with chants and prayers, depicting the unwavering faith of the devotees who braved all odds to mark this festival. (ANB)
