Panun Kashmir Observes Rahul Bhat’s Martyrdom Anniversary, Recalls Pahalgam Victims, Urges Recalibration of Internal Security Policy and Declaring Pakistan a Terror State
Jammu, May 12, 2025:
On the solemn occasion of the second martyrdom anniversary of Rahul Bhat, Panun Kashmir held a remembrance meet, paying homage to the young Kashmiri Pandit PM Package employee who was executed in cold blood by Islamist terrorists inside his office at Tehsil Budgam in May 2022. The gathering also remembered the victims of the recent Pahalgam massacre, condemning the unrelenting campaign of jihadist terror in the Kashmir Valley.
Dr. Ajay Chrungoo, Chairman of Panun Kashmir, while paying tribute, said:
“Rahul Bhat’s killing was a brutal reminder that the genocide of Kashmiri Hindus is far from over. That he was killed inside a government office exposes deep failures in our internal security grid. The government must now decisively recalibrate its internal security policy in Jammu & Kashmir to confront the jihadist ecosystem head-on.”
Dr. Chrungoo stressed that no further soft-pedalling of Islamist separatism can be afforded. “We are deeply grateful to our brave security forces for their recent kinetic response to Pakistan’s misadventures. But the war is not just on the border, it is within. We must confront the reality that Pakistan has turned the art of lying into a state policy and their terrorism into an industry. India must stop playing catch-up and set the narrative.”
Shailendra Aima, Senior Vice Chairman, warned against complacency:
“We must not let symbolic reconciliations mask strategic denial. The killings of Rahul Bhat and the Pahalgam victims represent targeted psychological warfare. We demand not just military retaliation, but a complete re-architecture of internal security and political frameworks in Kashmir that prioritizes national interest over appeasement.”
Kuldeep Raina, General Secretary, recalled Panun Kashmir’s consistent stand:
“In our historic Delhi Declaration of 1993, Panun Kashmir was the first to call out Pakistan as a terror state. It is an irony and tragedy that successive Indian governments ignored this truth for decades. We say again, better late than never. The time to officially declare Pakistan a terror state is now.”
B.L. Kaul, Organizing Secretary, added:
“We are indebted to our security forces. But their efforts must be matched with political clarity. The idea that normalcy can be manufactured without addressing genocide is dangerous. Rahul Bhat was a symbol of return and hope, his murder was an Islamist rejection of both.”
Panun Kashmir concluded the meet by reiterating its key demands:
Recalibration of internal security architecture in Kashmir, ensuring protection of vulnerable minorities and nationalists.
Formal designation of Pakistan as a state sponsor of terrorism, aligning Indian policy with ground realities.
National memorialization of Rahul Bhat and all victims of jihadist terror, to serve as reminders of the unfinished justice owed.
Unflinching support to India’s security forces, who stand between civilization and barbarism.
“The martyrdom of Rahul Bhat is etched into the soul of the Kashmiri Hindu community. His blood was not shed in vain. Let it mark the beginning of a national awakening to truth, justice, and an unbending resolve to defeat jihadism,” the statement concluded.
