Rs One (1) Crore Property of Drug Peddler Attached by Srinagar Police Under NDPS Act
Srinagar, ANB ; In a significant step against drug trafficking, Srinagar Police has attached immovable property valued at approximately ₹1 crore, belonging to a notorious drug peddler, Pervaiz Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Takanwari, Karnabal.
According to the statement issued to News Service Associated News Bureau ANB that the attached asset includes a two-storeyed residential house along with adjoining land, determined to have been acquired through the proceeds of illicit drug trafficking. The action was carried out under Sections 68-E and 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, following confirmation from the competent authority under SAFEMA (Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators [Forfeiture of Property] Act), New Delhi.
Bhat is an accused in FIR No. 02/2024, registered at Police Station Sangam under Sections 8, 20, and 29 of the NDPS Act, and is currently detained under the PIT-NDPS Act as a preventive measure.
Police investigations have established Bhat’s involvement in narcotic distribution, particularly targeting local youth, posing a grave threat to public health and societal well-being.
This action is part of the Jammu & Kashmir Police’s ongoing campaign to dismantle drug trafficking networks by striking at their financial roots. Authorities stress that such measures are crucial in disrupting the flow of narcotics and ensuring a safer environment for the community.
