DSEK Warns Private Schools Against Violating Summer Vacation Norms

Srinagar, (ANB): The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has issued a stern warning to private schools found violating summer vacation guidelines by compelling students and teachers to attend school during the official break. In a circular issued Thursday, the department expressed concern over complaints received from various quarters, indicating that some private institutions are continuing academic or extracurricular activities under various pretexts despite the ongoing summer vacation. Terming the practice a “serious violation of established norms,” the Directorate emphasized that summer vacations are essential breaks for both students and staff, and any compulsion to attend school during this period defeats their purpose.

“All recognized private schools are hereby directed to ensure that no student or teacher is compelled to attend school or participate in any academic or extra-curricular activities during the officially declared summer vacation period,” the circular stated. The DSEK also warned that any deviation from these instructions would be viewed seriously and invite strict action under the relevant legal provisions.
