Illegal extraction & transportation of minerals, Police seizes 4 vehicles, arrests 4 drivers in Kulgam
Police HQ Srinagar organises Seminar on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s Legacy under Civic Action Programme
Srinagar, ANB: In continuation of its ongoing drive against illegal mining, police in Kulgam have seized 04 vehicles and arrested 4 persons for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals. A Police party headed by Incharge Police Post Mirbazar at a checkpoint established at Akhran seized four vehicles (02 Tippers and 02 Tractors) and arrested four drivers for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals from Nallah Vaishow.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 134/2025 under relevant sections of law have been registered in Police Station Qazigund and further investigation is going on. Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding illegal mineral-related activities in their neighbourhood, so that timely action against the culprits will be taken. Meanwhile, Police Headquarters Srinagar in collaboration with the Department of Students Welfare, University of Kashmir organized a seminar on the topic ‘Young India and the Ideals of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’ commemorating his 150th Birth Anniversary under Civic Action Programme at EMMRC Auditorium, University of Kashmir.
About 200 students of different colleges and other departments of the University attended the event and 22 participants delivered speech on the topic. The best five (05) speakers were awarded with cash reward & certificates. The seminar witnessed the presence of distinguished dignitaries including Prof. Naseer Iqbal, Registrar, University of Kashmir as the Chief Guest, Prof. Parvez Ahmad, Dean Students Welfare, University of Kashmir, Staff Officer to DIG CKR Srinagar SP Peer Zahoor-JKPS, and SP Hazratbal Zone Srinagar Shri Hilal Khaliq-JKPS as Guests of Honour.
Other guests who graced the event include Shri Shahid Ali, Cultural Officer, University of Kashmir, ADO CKR Srinagar Dy SP Mohammad Shafi, Private Secretary to DIG CKR Srinagar Dy SP Showkat Ahmad, Inspector Irfan Nazir, & Inspector Ms. Rifat Jan.
Registrar Kashmir University in his remarkable speech emphasized the importance of the event in fostering Police Public relationship and adoption of the ideas of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. SP Hazratbal Zone Srinagar and Staff Officer to DIG CKR Srinagar also highlighted the role of ‘The Iron Man of India’ in unifying the country.
