Tiranga my Dharma, strength, heartbeat, says LG Manoj Sinha
Srinagar, KNT: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday flagged off the Tiranga Yatra from Dal Lake in Srinagar, joining thousands in a walkathon to the Botanical Garden to honour the national flag.
“Tiranga is my Dharma. Tiranga is my strength. Tiranga is my heartbeat,” the LG said, adding that it would be a blessing to be born again to serve the country. Paying tributes to forefathers and brave hearts who laid down their lives for the tricolour, Sinha called the day both a celebration of India’s success and a moment for introspection.
He urged people to resolve to build a modern and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir on the foundation of sacrifices made by soldiers of the Army, CAPFs, and Police. “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, J&K has entered a new era of inclusive development. With renewed self-confidence, the people of the UT are marching ahead toward a peaceful and prosperous future,” he said.
The LG thanked residents, youth, women, public representatives, cultural and educational institutions, NCC cadets, security forces, and all stakeholders for their participation in the Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan. He highlighted initiatives like the “Weaves & Threads Activity,” Tiranga Melas, concerts, and bike rallies as key in spreading messages of unity and honouring freedom fighters.
Appealing for enthusiastic participation in the third phase of the campaign starting August 13, Sinha said, “The tricolour will fly high on government buildings and every house across Jammu and Kashmir. This campaign is a pledge to make J&K the best in every field.”
On the occasion, the LG felicitated Kargil War heroes and released a monograph in honour of the martyrs. A Tiranga Concert concluded the event, paying tribute to countless heroes and rekindling the spirit of the freedom movement.
The event saw the presence of political leaders including Omar Abdullah, ministers, senior officials, and citizens from various walks of life. [KNT]
