Youth Swept Away in Flash Floods in Rajouri

Rajouri, KNT  A 20-year-old youth was swept away by flash floods while attempting to cross a stream in the Karian Mubarakpura area of Rajouri district on Monday, triggering a massive rescue operation.

Officials identified the missing youth as Atif Ahmed, son of Ashfaq Shah, a resident of Karian Mubarakpura.
Witnesses said the incident occurred when a sudden heavy flow in the stream caught him off guard, pulling him into the gushing waters.

Soon after the incident, police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams rushed to the spot and began intensive searches along the stretch of the water body.

Officials confirmed that despite continuous efforts, no trace of Atif Ahmed has been found so far. Search operations remain underway, with rescue teams combing the stream and adjoining areas in a bid to locate the youth. [KNT]
