In Jammu and Kashmir, the 270-kilometre-long Jammu-Srinagar National Highway 44 has been closed for vehicular movement due to landslides and mudslides at multiple locations. The highway remained blocked and is currently unsafe for travel.
The historic Mughal Road connecting the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu division with the Shopian district of Kashmir valley also remained closed due to heavy snow accumulation in the higher reaches. The authorities have advised commuters and transporters not to travel on these routes until the roads are fully cleared. Road clearance operations are underway. The public has been urged not to pay heed to rumours and to verify road status through official traffic control sources.
