Sopore Police, Students Hold Cleanliness Drive at Railway Station
Sopore, Oct 27, KNT: In a joint initiative aimed at promoting environmental awareness and public hygiene, Sopore Police and students on Monday carried out a cleanliness drive at the Sopore Railway Station. The campaign was organized as part of the observance week commemorating Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, focusing on community participation and civic responsibility.
The cleanliness drive witnessed active involvement of students, police personnel, and local volunteers who cleared garbage, removed litter, and cleaned the surroundings of the railway station premises. Officers said the effort was part of a broader campaign to keep public places clean and spread awareness about maintaining a hygienic environment.
A police official present at the event said the drive aimed to motivate youth toward environmental protection and civic sense. “The purpose of the drive was not only to clean the area but to inspire others to take ownership of their surroundings. A clean town reflects a responsible society,” he said.
Students from various institutions participated with enthusiasm, displaying placards highlighting the importance of cleanliness and environmental conservation. “We are happy to contribute to such a cause and will continue participating in future drives for the welfare of society,” said one of the students.
The drive concluded with a brief interaction session between students and police officials, who emphasized the need for continuous cooperation between citizens and law enforcement agencies in maintaining cleanliness and public discipline.
Sopore Police said more such drives will be organized in the coming weeks under the theme of “Clean Environment, Safe Society.” [KNT]
