Budgam DC Reviews SC Directions on Stray Dog Control in Institutions, Orders Shelters, ABC Centres, Perimeter Checks
Budgam, KNT: Deputy Commissioner Budgam Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat on Tuesday reviewed the Supreme Court’s directions on managing stray dog presence in educational and health institutions and issued a set of district-wide measures for immediate implementation.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the establishment of dedicated dog shelters and fully functional Animal Birth Control centres to regulate the stray dog population in line with approved protocols. Concerned departments were instructed to carry out perimeter safety inspections around schools and health facilities to ensure safer movement for students, patients and staff.
Dr. Bhat also stressed the availability of Anti Rabies Vaccines at all health institutions across Budgam. He asked officials to conduct awareness programmes to educate locals on preventive measures and responsible handling of dog bite incidents.
The Deputy Commissioner said coordinated efforts are needed to implement the court directives effectively and to reduce the growing stray dog concerns around public facilities. [KNT]
