Fire Damages Three-Storeyed House in Batamaloo, Srinagar
Srinagar, KNT: A fire broke out yesternight at SD Colony in the Batamaloo area of Srinagar, damaging a three-storeyed residential house.
According to officials, the second floor and attic portion of a three-storeyed residential structure were engulfed in flames.
The house belongs to Fayaz Ahmad Sheikh, son of late Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh, and Mehraj-ud-Din Sheikh, son of late Mohammad Abdullah Sheikh.
“The blaze was brought under control, preventing it from spreading to adjoining houses in the densely populated locality,” the officials said adding that due to congestion and limited access, additional reinforcement in the form of fire boozers was pressed into service to ensure adequate water supply.
The operation was led by the Divisional Fire Officer Headquarters Muzaffar Ali under the supervision of the Deputy Director Fire and Emergency Services, with Mobilising Officer Aijaz Ahmad Shah overseeing field coordination.
At the preliminary stage, officials said the cause of the fire is suspected to be a short circuit.
No loss of life or injuries were reported in the incident. [KNT]
