Minimum Temperatures to Rise Gradually, Fog to Persist in Jammu Plains

Srinagar,  KNT: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Sunday issued an advisory predicting a gradual rise in minimum temperatures at many places across Jammu and Kashmir from Monday onwards, bringing some relief from the intense cold conditions prevailing in the region.

The weather office said moderate fog is likely to persist over the plains of Jammu division, with dense fog at isolated places, and warned that such conditions may continue during the next five days, potentially affecting road and air traffic.

According to the latest weather update, Jammu and Kashmir is expected to witness partly cloudy conditions from January 11 to January 15. The weather is likely to turn cloudy on January 16 and 17, with the possibility of light snowfall at isolated or scattered places in higher reaches.

From January 18 to 19, the weather is expected to remain partly cloudy, while January 20 may see cloudy conditions with light rain or snow at a few places. The weather office has further forecast cloudy skies with light rain or snowfall at scattered places between January 21 and January 23.

The advisory said weather conditions are likely to improve again from January 24 to January 25, with partly cloudy skies expected across the region.

Meteorological officials advised people, especially travellers and commuters in the Jammu plains, to remain cautious due to reduced visibility caused by fog and to stay updated with official weather and traffic advisories in the coming days. [KNT]
