Probe will follow if fraud established in judicial exam results: Omar Abdullah
Srinagar, KNT: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday said an investigation would be initiated if evidence of fraud is found in the ongoing row over Kashmir judicial services examination results.
Speaking to reporters, Abdullah said the government would act firmly if wrongdoing is established and asserted that transparency and merit cannot be compromised. He said allegations must be supported by evidence, adding that no individual or institution would be protected if irregularities are proven.
The Chief Minister also said that electricity supply across Jammu and Kashmir has been restored to above 1,500 megawatts after witnessing a temporary dip. He said concerned departments worked to stabilise supply and ensure minimal inconvenience to inhabitants.
On political issues, Abdullah reiterated that the separation of Ladakh from the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir was unnecessary. He said Jammu should also not be divided and maintained that the region should be viewed as a single entity.
He said his party has consistently opposed regional division and accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of initiating policies that fragmented Jammu and Kashmir. [KNT]
