Republic Day celebrated across Kashmir division with large public participation
Srinagar, KNT: The 77th Republic Day was celebrated across the Kashmir division on Monday with enthusiasm and widespread public participation, as district-level functions were organised to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India.
Flag hoisting ceremonies, ceremonial parades and cultural programmes were held at district, sub-division, tehsil and block levels across the valley. Senior civil and police officials unfurled the National Flag at main venues, inspected march pasts and addressed gatherings, highlighting the significance of Republic Day and the importance of constitutional values.
In Budgam, the main function was held at the Sports Stadium, where the Deputy Commissioner unfurled the National Flag and took the salute. Developmental progress in healthcare, road infrastructure, power supply, education and public welfare schemes was highlighted. Cultural performances by school students and local artists marked the celebrations.
Bandipora district observed the main function at the district stadium, where the Chairperson of the District Development Council unfurled the National Flag and reviewed the parade. Officials highlighted progress in infrastructure, education, healthcare and social welfare, while cultural programmes added vibrancy to the event.
In Kulgam, celebrations were held at the District Police Lines, where the District Development Council Chairperson unfurled the National Flag and took the salute. Officials outlined achievements under major development schemes, including housing, water supply, employment generation and infrastructure development.
Baramulla district marked the occasion at the district office complex, where the Deputy Commissioner unfurled the National Flag and paid tribute to freedom fighters. The focus remained on unity, peace and inclusive development.
Kupwara witnessed large-scale celebrations at the District Police Lines, with ceremonial parades, departmental displays and cultural programmes. Development initiatives in healthcare, education, road connectivity, power supply and water schemes were highlighted, alongside recognition of public service achievements.
In Pulwama, the main function was held at the District Police Lines, where the District Development Council Chairperson unfurled the National Flag and took the salute. Cultural performances, felicitation of achievers and tributes to martyrs formed key components of the event.
Ganderbal district observed the main function at Qamaria Stadium, where the District Development Council Chairperson unfurled the National Flag. Officials highlighted progress in public service delivery, welfare schemes and development sectors, while cultural performances reflected the region’s heritage.
Shopian district celebrated Republic Day at the District Police Lines, with the District Development Council Chairperson unfurling the National Flag and inspecting the parade. Cultural programmes and felicitation of meritorious individuals marked the occasion.
Officials said similar Republic Day functions were organised across all districts at sub-divisional, tehsil, block, panchayat and institutional levels, reflecting collective commitment to democratic values, unity and national progress.[KNT]
