Domestic market closes flat after volatile trading session

Benchmark domestic equity indices, the Sensex and the Nifty, closed flat after a volatile trading session today. Both indices opened higher but were unable to maintain their momentum and subsequently oscillated between gains and losses throughout the day.

The Sensex declined 40 points to close at 84 thousand 234, while the Nifty added 19 points to settle at 25 thousand 954.
