CM Praises Army, Civil Administration for Rescuing Stranded Tourists in Gulmarg
Srinagar, KNT: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday appreciated the Army and civil administration for their coordinated rescue operation after tourists were stranded in the higher reaches of Gulmarg following a technical snag in a private helicopter.
According to officials, the tourists became stranded after the helicopter reportedly developed a technical problem in the upper areas of the famous tourist destination in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
The situation prompted a rescue operation involving Army personnel and civil administration officials, who safely evacuated the stranded tourists.
In a statement, the Chief Minister praised the prompt response of the rescue teams and acknowledged the coordination between different agencies during the operation.
“Chief Minister appreciated the prompt and coordinated efforts of the Army and Civil Administration in safely rescuing tourists stranded in the higher reaches of Gulmarg following a technical snag in a private helicopter,” officials said.
The Chief Minister also directed the administration to strengthen tourist safety mechanisms and take preventive steps to avoid similar incidents in the future.
“The Chief Minister further directed the administration to take all necessary measures to strengthen safety measures and ensure a safe and secure experience for tourists, so as to prevent recurrence of such incidents,” the statement said.
Gulmarg, one of Kashmir’s major tourist destinations, witnesses heavy tourist activity during both winter and summer seasons, including adventure and aerial tourism.
Officials said the tourists were safely brought to safer locations and no injuries were reported in the incident. [KNT]
