Southwest Monsoon Enters Odisha, Brings Relief From Heatwave
The southwest monsoon has entered Odisha, bringing much-needed relief from the prevailing heatwave conditions in the state.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the monsoon has advanced into several northern and coastal districts, including Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, and Balasore.
The IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall across many parts of the state till the 19th of this month. The showers are also expected to coincide with the three-day ‘Raja Festival’ celebrations, leading to a considerable drop in day temperatures that had crossed 40 degrees Celsius in several districts.
The timely arrival of the monsoon is expected to benefit the agricultural sector by facilitating the commencement of kharif sowing activities.
Meanwhile, the IMD has issued a yellow warning for various districts, cautioning people about the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface winds.
