Landslide Forces Temporary Closure of Mughal Road
Rajouri, KNT: Traffic on the Mughal Road was temporarily suspended on Tuesday after a landslide struck near the Lal Ghulam Bridge, blocking the strategic road connecting the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch with south Kashmir.
Officials said the landslide triggered the accumulation of debris on the roadway, rendering the route unsafe for vehicular movement and prompting authorities to halt traffic as a precautionary measure.
The closure has affected movement of vehicles on the inter-regional road, which serves as an important alternative link between Jammu and Kashmir divisions.
Road maintenance agencies and concerned authorities have initiated clearance operations to remove the debris and restore traffic movement at the earliest.
Officials advised commuters to avoid unnecessary travel on the route and follow traffic advisories issued by the authorities until the road is declared safe for movement. [KNT]
