Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda To Launch Samagra Shishu Bal Swasthya Karyakram Today

Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda will launch the Samagra Shishu Bal Swasthya Karyakram (SSBSK) during the 16th Conference of the Central Council of Health and Family Welfare in New Delhi today. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said that it will carry forward the vision of “Pehle Teen Saal Sampurn Dekhbhal”, recognising the critical importance of the first three years of life for child survival, growth, nutrition and early brain development.

It added that the programme will provide integrated home and community-based healthcare for children from birth to three years by merging the existing Home-Based Newborn Care (HBNC) and Home-Based Care for Young Child (HBYC) programmes. The initiative will also introduce a risk-based follow-up system for vulnerable children with additional home visits, strengthen early screening through Well-Baby Sessions and Shishu Shivirs.

SSBSK will incorporate post-partum maternal mental health screening, early childhood development and digital monitoring through integrated health platforms. The Ministry also noted that the programme will also address home-based care in urban settings through tailored strategies for slum, migrant and underserved populations.
