MP Mian Altaf Escapes Unhurt After Landslide Hits Vehicle on Jammu–Poonch Highway

Rajouri,  KNT: Member of Parliament Mian Altaf Ahmad escaped unhurt on Wednesday after a landslide struck his vehicle on the Jammu–Poonch Highway while he was on his way to visit areas affected by the recent spell of heavy rainfall.

Sources said the landslide occurred suddenly as the MP’s vehicle was passing through a vulnerable stretch of the highway. Although the vehicle was hit by falling debris, Mian Altaf escaped without any injuries.

The landslide also blocked the highway, disrupting vehicular movement and leaving traffic stranded on both sides of the road.

Authorities promptly pressed men and machinery into service to clear the debris and restore traffic on the affected stretch.

Mian Altaf had been touring rain-affected areas to assess the damage caused by flash floods and landslides and to interact with affected families. [KNT]
