Thajiwas Tourist Movement Suspended for Two Days Amid Heavy Rainfall
Ganderbal, KNT: The Sonamarg Development Authority (SDA) on Thursday suspended the movement of tourists and visitors to the Thajiwas area for the next two days in view of incessant rainfall and the heightened risk of flash floods and landslides.
In an advisory issued by the Chief Executive Officer of the Sonamarg Development Authority, the restriction has been imposed as a precautionary measure amid prevailing inclement weather conditions across the region.
“The movement of all tourists and visitors towards the Thajiwas area shall remain completely closed for the next two days,” the advisory said.
The authority has advised all tourists and visitors to refrain from visiting Thajiwas during the restriction period and strictly follow the directions issued by the administration and other concerned authorities.
The advisory comes as continuous rainfall has increased the possibility of flash floods, landslides and other weather-related hazards in the higher reaches of Kashmir, prompting authorities to issue precautionary measures in several districts.
