Union Minister Piyush Goyal Calls For Stronger India-Uzbekistan Economic Partnership

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has called for a stronger India-Uzbekistan economic partnership, setting a target to double bilateral trade in the next three years through greater investment, lower trade barriers and deeper collaboration in sectors such as healthcare and pharmaceuticals. Speaking at the India-Uzbekistan Business Forum in New Delhi, the Minister noted that businesses in India and Uzbekistan must look at investing in each other’s opportunities.

He highlighted that both nations can build strong collaboration in sectors like mining, textiles, pharma and healthcare, agri and food processing and IT and Digital Economy, among others. Mr Goyal added that Uzbekistan and India share deep, emotional cultural ties, friendship, complimentary strength. He urged businesses to co-invest, co-manufacture and co-innovate to spur growth on both sides. Mr Goyal further underlined that there is a new dynamism in the ties of India and Uzbekistan that can work to convert into more commerce, business, jobs and investments in each other’s economies. Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov also attended the forum.
