Parliament To Take Up Several Key Bills Today

The Lok Sabha is scheduled to take up the The Bankers’ Books Evidence Bill, 2026, today. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is likely to move the bill to provide for law relating to evidence with respect to bankers’ books and to align it with contemporary digital banking practices. The Finance Minister is also scheduled to introduce the Taxation and Other Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026, and the Appropriation (No. 3) Bill, 2026 in the lower house today.

The Taxation and Other Laws (Amendment) Bill also seeks to amend the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007, the Income-tax Act, 2025, and the Finance Act, 2026. While the Appropriation (No. 3) Bill aims to authorise the appropriation of moneys out of the Consolidated Fund of India to meet the amounts spent on certain services during the financial year ended on the 31st of March, 2023.

Meanwhile, the Rajya Sabha is scheduled to take up The Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Bill, 2026, today. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to move the Bill, which seeks to further amend the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969.
