Stray Dog Menace Sparks Anger in Anantnag, Residents Seek DC Intervention

Anantnag,  KNT: Fear and resentment have gripped Pandit Pora Chee in Anantnag district following complaints from residents over a growing number of stray dogs allegedly being kept by a woman in the locality, with locals seeking immediate intervention from the district administration.

Locals alleged that the dogs have become a threat, particularly to children and elderly people, and said repeated concerns have been raised over their movement in residential areas.

In the latest incident, locals said Shafeeq Ahmad was taking his son to a madrasa on Thursday when the dogs allegedly attempted to bite the child.

Locals said Shafeeq intervened to protect his son, following which an altercation allegedly took place between him and the woman.

The incident has further heightened concerns among residents, who said they should not be forced to live under constant fear of dog attacks.

The residents have appealed to the Deputy Commissioner Anantnag and other concerned authorities to urgently assess the situation and take appropriate action under law to prevent any untoward incident. [KNT]
