IGP Kashmir Urges Youth to Use Social Media to Discourage Drug Abuse, Stunt Biking

Srinagar,  KNT: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Sujit Kumar on Thursday urged young people to use social media positively by creating reels and videos that motivate others to shun drug abuse, avoid stunt biking and adopt responsible civic behaviour.

Interacting with media persons, the IGP said youngsters should set an example as responsible citizens, particularly when it comes to following traffic rules and ensuring the safety of fellow commuters.

He appealed to youth not to indulge in stunt biking, modify their vehicles and motorcycles in ways that cause inconvenience to others, or engage in activities that disturb the public.

Emphasizing road safety, Kumar urged people not to use mobile phones while driving or crossing roads and to strictly follow traffic regulations.

He, as per the news agency Kashmir Kashmir News Trust also highlighted the growing traffic pressure in Kashmir, observing that roads are narrow while the number of vehicles is continuously increasing. He urged motorists to avoid wrong parking, warning that irresponsible parking chokes traffic and causes inconvenience to commuters.

The IGP called upon young people to become ambassadors of positive change by encouraging their peers to stay away from drugs, discourage dangerous biking practices and promote road discipline.

He stressed that responsible behavior, civic sense and concern for others were essential for maintaining safer roads and a healthier society. [KNT]
