Holy Ayodhya Gears Up For Deepotsav; Over 30 Lakh Lamps To Illuminate City

Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh is set to celebrate the 10th edition of Deepotsav today, with more than 30 lakh earthen lamps set to illuminate the holy city on the eve of Diwali. Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan will attend the celebrations. During his visit, he will offer prayers at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, participate in the symbolic coronation ceremony of Prabhu Shri Ram and felicitate revered saints.
This year’s celebrations will have a strong international presence, with around 2,500 artists from India and abroad set to showcase Ramlila and cultural performances across 12 stages. Performers from countries including South Africa, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Laos and Thailand will bring diverse cultural interpretations of the Ramayana to the celebrations.
A special exhibition at Ram Katha Park will also showcase Ayodhya’s 500-year historical journey, the Ram Temple movement and the city’s transformation. The exhibition will feature historical documents, cultural presentations and displays highlighting the development of the Ram Temple complex and the city’s infrastructure.
The initiative aims to position Deepotsav as an international cultural event and strengthen Ayodhya’s identity as a global centre of Ramayana heritage.
