IAS, IPS,JKAS among 51 officers serve in JK Sports Association without permission
As many as 51 officers including IAS, IPS and JKAS were served in J&K Sports Association without approval from competent authority prompting General Administration Department (GAD) to seek explanation from them.
As the probe into the charges framed against Sudershan Mehta, the then Assistant Commandant, Home Guards, Samba (now Retd. Dy.SP.) takes place for his holding the chair of Joint Secretary in Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association during his service, Skelton started tumbling out of the cupboard as it has been surfaced that fifty one other government servants including IAS, IPS and KAS officers had been serving in the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Association without permission from the competent authority and the matter in this regard was brought to the notice of the Government Administration Department, GAD, by then Under Secretary to Government Technical Education/ Youth State Sports Association namely Jyoti Raina vide communiqué number Edu/Tech/Phy/29/2015 dated 01.02. 2016. In the communiqué it had been stated that these fifty one officers had brazenly violated SRO -164.
Official sources informed The News Now that acting on the communiqué the PHQ had sought explanation from SP and lower rank police officers and ignored other big wings to the rank of 3 ADGsP and one IGP (now retired). They said that while one of the ADGsP is on central deputation the other two are serving in JKUT.
“The undersigned is directed to invite the kind attention of the Commissioner/Secretary to Government, General Administration Department to this Department’s letter of even number dated.26-10-2015, regarding the subject cited above and to enclose herewith the list of Government Employees including IAS/IPS/KAS/KPS Officers who are holding various positions in State Sports Associations without prior permission from the Competent Authority in terms of SRO 164 of 1980 dated 27-03-1980”, read the order.

The other officers who served in the Sports Association without permission have been named as Ajit Kumar Sahu, IAS, served as President Archery Association of J&K, Farooq Ahmed Shah, IAS (now retired) served as President Winter Games Association, Ravinder Singh, KAS, served as President J&K Cycling Association, Mehmood Khan, KAS, served as Senior Vice President Winter Games Association, Z.A Thakur, DFO served as President Football Association, Gurdeep Singh, Assistant Secretary JKSRTC, served as Joint Secretary Hockey ,Jasvinder Singh, SO Industry Department, served as Sr. Vice President Hockey, Ranbir Singh, Master, served as Vice President Hockey, Ravinder Singh, Inspector Excise Deptt, served as General Secretary Armature Athlete Association, Rafiq Din Khan, Pharmacist ,served as General Secretary Water Skiing Association, Mohd Saleem, Photographer SKIMS Soura, served as General Secretary All J&K Sports Association of the deaf, Mushtaq Ahmed Turkey, Lecturer, served as President Tennis Ball Association, Sajjad Ahmed Darsaroo, PET, served as Joint Secretary Tennis Ball Cricket Association, Sanjiv Sharma ‘Teacher, served as Joint Secretary Indian Style Wrestling Association, Abdul Qayoom , Chief Sports officer, served as Vice President Veteran Athletic Association, Nuzhat Ara, sports officer, served as Vice President Veteran Athlete Association ,PD Singh Physical Director Jammu University, served as Joint Secretary JK Cycling Association, Dr. Narinder Bhatial, Medical Officer, served as Vice President J&K Rifle Association, Pankaj Sharma Inspector Excise Deptt, served as Joint Secretary J&K Rifle Association, RC Sharma, Volleyball coach Jammu University, served as Treasure Volleyball Association of J&K, Ranjiv Gupta, AEE PDD, served as Vice President Wushu Association of J&K, Sheikh Abdul Hamid, Professor, served as Vice President ,J&K Baseball Association.
Besides these other police officers who have been included in the list named as Benam Tosh, SP, Sudershan Mehta, DySP, Charat Chander Singh , Inspector, Kuldeep Handoo, Inspector, Sports Officer in JKP, Sajad Hussain, Inspector and Rajesh Khajuria, Head Constable.
Pertinently, Raj Kumar Goel, IAS, Financial Commissioner/ Additional Chief Secretary Thursday appointed ADGP Hemant Kumar Lohia, IPS, Commandant General, HG/CD/SDRF, J&K, as Inquiry Officer to conduct an inquiry into the charges framed against Sudershan Mehta, the then Assistant Commandant, Home Guards, Samba (now Retd. Dy.SP.). In the very order it is stated that Rajesh Bali, JKPS, AIG(CIV), PHQ, J&K shall be the Presenting Officer. The Inquiry Officer shall complete the enquiry and submit his report/ recommendations to the Home Department within a period of thirty days from the date of issue of this order.
