3 from J&K among world’s top 2% scientists in Stanford’s list
In a proud moment, three persons from Jammu and Kashmir have been featured among the world’s top 2 per cent scientists in a list created by Stanford University, the United States of America.
Dr. Mohammad Javaid from Dansal in Jammu, and Dr. Parvaiz Ahmad Kaul and Dr. MS Khuroo from Srinagar have been enlisted in the coveted list, which was prepared by a team of experts led by Prof John loannidis, the eminent Professor at Stanford University and published by Elsevier BV.
Dr. Kaul, currently Director, SKIMS Soura has been enlisted in the General and Internal Medicine category with a subspecialty of Respiratory Medicine while renowned Gastroenterologist Dr. Khuroo figures in the subspecialty of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
Hailing from Palli village in Dansal tehsil of Jammu district, Dr. Javaid is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi and has published more than 150 research articles in Scopus/ SCl/ESCl/Web of Science indexed journals in the areas of Additive Manufacturing, Healthcare technologies, Industry 4.0 and its associated technologies.
The selection is based on the top 100,000 scientists by c-score (with and without self-citations) or a percentile rank of 2 per cent or above in the sub-field. Scientists are classified into 22 fields and 176 sub-fields.
As many as 195,605 scientists are included in the career-long database and 200,409 scientists are included in the single recent year dataset.
This version (4) is based on the 1st September 2022 snapshot from Scopus, updated to end of citation year 2021, said a statement from Elsevier BV. This year 3796 researchers from India have found a place in this list.
