Health & Medical Education frame panel on health, nutrition

The Health and Medical Education Department of Jammu and Kashmir has constituted a committee to work on Health and Nutrition under Viksit Bharat.

The committee will be focusing on thematic areas such elimination of Anaemia, Micro Nutrient Deficiencies, wasting and stunting. An order in this regard has been issued by Bhupinder Kumar, Secretary to the Government, Health and Medical Education Department.

“A Committee of following officers is hereby constituted to work on the theme of Health and Nutrition under Viksit Bharat focusing the thematic areas viz. Elimination of Anaemia, Micro Nutrient Deficiencies, wasting and stunting”, reads the order.

The committee as per the order will identify measurable indicators on each of the thematic areas. The committee will prepare action plan/strategy for addressing identified gaps for improvement of the indicators through targeted approach with timelines.

The Committee can co-opt any members as it deems fit. The Committee shall convene a workshop with all the stakeholders/experts/officers on the specific areas by or before 5th November 2022 and shall finalize a comprehensive report by 6th of November 2022, the order reads.

The members of the committee include Administrative Secretary, H&ME as Chairman. The members of the committee include Commissioner Food Safety & Controller, Drugs & Food Control Organization, Mission Director, NHM- Convener, Principal Government Medical College, Jammu /Srinagar, Director Health Jammu/Kashmir, HOD Preventive and Social Medicine GMC Jammu/Srinagar, Representative of Social Welfare Department not below the rank of Additional Secretary, Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, NIPI and Dr. Harjeet Rai, Epidemiologist/SSO.
