Sensex, Nifty continue to witness losses in afternoon trade

The Sensex and the NSE Nifty today continued to witness losses in the afternoon trade. Index of top 30 companies at Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex, was below the 59,850 mark.

The Nifty, index of top 50 companies at National Stock Exchange, was below 17,850 level. Both indices fell around 0.8 percent even as the global cues were positive.

The Sensex declined 524 points to trade at 59,830. The Nifty also fell 149 points to trade at 17,844.

At the forex market, the rupee depreciated nine paise to 82 rupees and 64 paise in the afternoon deals.
