India to take on Japan in FIH Hockey Men’s World Cup in Rourkela
In the FIH Hockey Men’s World Cup, India will clash with Japan in Birsa Munda hockey stadium in Rourkela today. Having already crashed out of the title race, India will play this classification match. Six other teams will also play positional matches in the same stadium today. The matches are South Africa vs Malaysia, Wales vs France and Chile vs Argentina.
With the title race in the hockey World Cup hotting up, the semi finalists Australia-Germany and Belgium-Netherlands are busy priming themselves up for the showdown tomorrow in Kalinga stadium in Bhubaneswar.
Meanwhile, though India today plays the classification match against the 2018 Asian Games champion Japan, its being seen by sports analysts as India’s chance to prepare for the next Asian games.
It’s time for the Indian team to rise above the gloom over the sudden death loss to New Zealand in the pre-quarters so as to shine brighter than the bronze that they had clinched in the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
