Govt providing all possible support to promote indigenous studies across globe, says Minister for Ports, Shipping Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal

Minister for Ports, Shipping Waterways and Ayush Sarbananda Sonowal today said that the government is providing all possible support to promote indigenous studies across the globe. Appreciating the education scholars’ efforts, he said that scholars are playing a commendable role in spreading learning of indigenous studies. Mr. Sonowal was addressing the inauguration session of the ‘Knowledge India Visitors Programme’ organised by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in New Delhi.

In his keynote address, Mr. Sonowal Highlighted the global achievements of Ayush Ministry in promoting traditional medicine. He said that his ministry is working towards holistic health support for the global society under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The two-day programme aims to discuss ways and means of promoting higher learning of Indian Knowledge System related issues all over the world. For the first time, over 80 senior academics from 39 countries, largely Heads of Departments teaching subjects of the Indian Knowledge System are participating in the programme. President of ICCR Dr. Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, ICCR Director of General Kumar Tuhin and other dignitaries from the education sector were also present in the programme.
