ONGC starts oil production from its flagship deep-water project in Krishna Godavari basin offshore
State-controlled Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) yesterday kick started oil production from its flagship deep-water project in the Krishna Godavari basin offshore the nation’s Eastern Coast. In a social media post, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri said that this is the “First Oil” production commenced from the complex and difficult deepwater KG-DWN-98/2 Block.

The Minister said that the project is expected to produce 45,000 barrels per day and over 10 million cubic metres of gas per day, contributing towards an energy Aatma nirbhar Bharat. He further added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, energy production is also set to rise from the deepest frontiers of Krishna-Godavari. The project is expected to add 7% to current national oil production & 7% to national Natural Gas production.
