Dual power system hindering J&K’s development: NC Provincial President
National Conference Provincial President for Jammu, Rattan Lal Gupta, Wednesday expressed concern about the dual power system hindering J&K’s development. He said the current setup, with two power centers functioning simultaneously, creates confusion within the administration and obstructs solutions.
Gupta highlighted the surge in militant activities as an example of administrative failure, citing media reports that eight out of ten districts in the Jammu region witnessed militant incidents this year, resulting in 44 deaths. He urged the government to enhance intelligence agency efficiency to counter escalating threats.
“The dual power system weakens the region’s ability to address security challenges,” he said and advocated for a single, empowered voice reflecting the people’s will.
He called for immediate statehood restoration, believing an elected government headed by Omar Abdullah would address residents’ aspirations and concerns. [KNT]
