Police seize vehicle from Budgam, arrest driver

Police Wednesday said that it solved a hit-and-run case in Pattan area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district, arresting the driver and seizing the vehicle involved in the incident.

The breakthrough came after an extensive investigation, which led police to identify the driver as Ahmad Parray, a resident of Bun Zanigam village of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
Divulging information about the road rage during a press conference, Deputy Superintendent of Police Shahe Jahan said that the incident occurred on November 15, 2024, when a pedestrian, Nazir Ahmad Sofi, was hit by a vehicle near a restaurant in Palhallan. Despite swift medical attention, Sofi succumbed to his injuries.
The police officer said that a case was promptly registered at Police Station Pattan, and a thorough investigation was initiated.
He said the police worked tirelessly to gather evidence and identify the culprit. “Our efforts paid off yesterday, when we seized the vehicle, (JK04J-0917), and arrested the driver, Ahmad Parray,” he said adding that the successful resolution of the case demonstrates the commitment of the Jammu and Kashmir Police to ensuring justice and public safety.
