Forest Guard’s Body Recovered After Four-Day Search in Ganderbal
Ganderbal, KNT: The body of a forest guard who went missing after drowning in a nallah in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district was recovered on Monday, four days after the incident.
The deceased, identified as Shamim Ahmed Mir, 45, son of Ghulam Muhammad Mir and a resident of Batwin, Ganderbal, had drowned in the Sindh nallah at Compartment No. 1, Pari Bal, while performing his official duties on Friday.
Following the incident, a joint search operation was launched by locals, police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), forest department staff, and professional divers. However, despite continuous efforts, the body remained untraced for three days.
On Monday morning, locals discovered the body downstream at Gund Roshan, bringing the search to a heartbreaking end. Mir is survived by his wife and two daughters. [KNT]
