DC Budgam Reviews and Finalizes Muharram Arrangements

Calls for Unified, Proactive Approach Across Departments

Budgam,  ANB: To ensure the smooth and dignified observance of the upcoming holy month of Muharram, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat (IAS), on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting at the DC Office Complex to review and finalize arrangements across the district.

The meeting focused on inter-departmental coordination for Muharram processions and congregational gatherings. The DC conducted a department-wise review and issued clear instructions for timely and effective implementation of duties.

According to news service, associated news bureau ANB, Emphasizing the need for proactive planning and grassroots coordination, the DC called upon all departments to work in close synergy with the local community to facilitate religious observances with respect and sensitivity. “Every department must function in unison to ensure a safe and respectful environment for Muharram. Sensitivity, readiness, and coordination are key,” he said.

Dr. Bhat stressed on ensuring uninterrupted power supply during processions, round-the-clock water availability, cleanliness at congregation sites, provision of mobile toilets and water tankers, timely road repairs, functional street lighting, adequate security deployment, medical aid, and a 24×7 district control room.

The meeting was attended by ADC Budgam, Joint Commissioner SMC, SDMs of Chadoora, Beerwah, and Khansahib, Superintending Engineer JKPDCL, Executive Engineers of PDD, Jal Shakti (PHE), and R&B Budgam, all Tehsildars, Executive Officers of Municipal Committees, along with officials from Health, Fire & Emergency Services, FCS&CA, Police, and representatives from Shia-dominated areas of the district.
