Omar Visits Flood-Ravaged Poonch, Promises Relief and Rehabilitation for Affected Families

Poonch, KNT: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday visited the flood and cloudburst-affected areas of Surankote and Poonch to assess the extent of damage and review relief and rehabilitation measures underway in the district.

During the visit, the Chief Minister met families affected by the recent floods and inspected the damage caused to homes, public infrastructure and livelihoods. He also chaired a review meeting with district officials to assess the ongoing relief operations and restoration of essential services.

Omar later travelled to Loran in Mandi, where he offered condolences to families who lost their loved ones in the recent cloudburst tragedy. Interacting with residents, he assured them that the government would extend all possible assistance to the affected households and expedite rehabilitation efforts.

The Chief Minister said the administration had been directed to ensure timely relief, restore damaged infrastructure and address the immediate needs of families affected by the recent spell of extreme weather.

His visit comes as several parts of Poonch continue to recover from widespread damage caused by cloudbursts, flash floods and landslides over the past week.[KNT]
