IMD Issues Red Alert For Extremely Heavy Rainfall Over Chhattisgarh Today

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red-colour warning for very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall over Chhattisgarh today. The Met Department also issued an orange-colour warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall over Gangetic West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha and Uttarakhand today.

The weather department also predicted heavy rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning over Northeast India including Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal. Similar conditions are likely to prevail over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Kerala, Mahe, Madhya Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.

Heavy rainfall is also predicted over Delhi, East Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Punjab. Meanwhile, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, and Interior Karnataka are also expected to witness heavy rainfall.
