PM Modi arrives in Kedarnath; To launch key infrastructure projects worth Rs 130 crore

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in kedarnath this morning. Prime Minister offered prayers at the Kedarnath Temple. Thereafter, Mr. Modi inaugurated Shri Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi and unveiled the statue of Shri Adi Shankaracharya.
The Samadhi has been reconstructed after the destruction in the 2013 floods. The entire reconstruction work has been undertaken under the guidance of the Prime Minister, who has constantly reviewed and monitored the progress of the project.

Mr. Modi also reviewed and inspected the completed and ongoing works along the Saraswati Aasthapath.

Prime Minister will also address a public rally. Mr. Modi will inaugurate key infrastructure projects which have been completed, including Saraswati Retaining Wall Aasthapath and Ghats, Mandakini Retaining Wall Aasthapath, Tirth Purohit Houses and Garud Chatti bridge on river Mandakini.

The projects have been completed at a cost of over 130 crore rupees. Mr. Modi will also lay the foundation stone for multiple projects worth over 180 crore rupees, including the Redevelopment of Sangam Ghat, First Aid and Tourist Facilitation Centre, Admin Office and Hospital, two Guest Houses, Police Station, Command & Control Centre, Mandakini Aasthapath Queue Management and Rainshelter and Saraswati Civic Amenity Building.

Meanwhile, special programmes will be organised at 9 religious places in Maharashtra at the time of the inauguration and dedication of development works at Kedarnath by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Arrangements have been made for live telecast of the programme on a big screen at Tuljapur Temple in Maharashtra.

Prominent spiritual leaders, Monastery heads, Sadhu and saints will be present on the occasion. Similar arrangements have been made at other pilgrimage centres in the state.

Special programmes have been organised at Mahur, Pandharpur, Aundha Nagnath, Parli Vaijnath, Tryambakeshwar, Tuljapur, Bhimashankar, Ghrushneshwar, Verul and Kolhpur on the occasion of the inauguration of various development projects at Kedarnath today.

Devotees in Tuljapur will be able to watch the live telecast of the programme on a big screen outside famous Tulja Bhavani Temple. Tulja Bhavani temple is one of the most important pilgrim cenrtres in the state and devotees not only from Maharashtra but also from other parts of the country visit the temple.

Considering the significance of this pilgrimage Union Home Minister Amit Shah had expressed his willingness to develop this place into world-class religious tourist destination.

Union government’s Swadesh Darshan and Prasad schemes have been instrumental in the development of the pilgrimage centres and it is expected to boost the development of these destinations and create more employment opportunities through religious tourism including Tuljapur and other religious places in Maharashtra.
