Now primary students in J&K to get education in Dogri, Kashmiri
To promote local vernacular now the primary class students of Jammu and Kashmir will be able get education in their mother tongue. Now the students from class first to fifth will be able to get education in Dogri and Kashmiri.
It is learnt that the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education department has started getting the textbooks published in local languages including Dogri, Kashmiri and even Hindi. Now under the New Education Policy-the students will be able to get education in local education. The policy lays emphasis on learning in local languages.
The work in the regard was initiated by the JKBOSE last year. Under NEP the books of Maths from first to fifth standard were published in Dogri, Kashmiri, Urdu and English. Earlier the books of Social Science, Environmental Science, General Science for primary classes were only available in English. Now JKBOSE will be providing textbooks to schools as per their requirement regarding local dialect.
Few days back, Jammu and Kashmir government has ordered translating all government orders and documents in the official languages.
The government has directed Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages(JKAACL) to take immediate necessary steps for development and promotion of Official languages and other regional languages of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The GAD has made JKAACL responsible for translation of important Government documents, Orders, Statutory orders etc. into four other Official Languages viz. Kashmiri, Dogri, Urdu and Hindi and their uploading on the respective websites through the concerned Department.
It is further ordered that staff of the erstwhile Legislative Council deployed in the Official Language Section of GAD shall report to the Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, with immediate effect. The salary of these officials shall continue to be drawn from the General Administration Department on submission of monthly reports of attendance.
