IT tower soon in Jammu to attract foreign investment
The Jammu and Kashmir Administration with an aim to get investment in the industrial sector has nodded for the first IT Tower to be constructed at the Exhibition Ground in the heart of the Jammu city.
However, the administration has started taking rapid steps towards creating infrastructure at the grassroots level and setting up an IT Tower is a part of it, said an official.

He said that recently the Administrative Council had approved the transfer of land for the IT tower, adding, “order has been issued by the government to transfer 24 kanals of land in the exhibition ground to the Industries and Commerce Department and the construction of the IT tower is expected to begin soon.”
“Last year ‘Jammu Haat’ was thrown open at the Exhibition Ground to promote small scale industries and now with the construction of an IT tower, the spot will emerge as a hub of economic activities,” said an official.
Along with this, he said that a formal order has also been issued to hand over 30 kanals of land for the IT tower at Sempora, Pampore to the Industries and Commerce Department in Kashmir.

“The 24 kanals of land will be used only for the construction of a multi-purpose complex to have offices for IT and other business activities,” read an order adding that as per the Administrative Council decision, it will be an industrial complex for foreign investment.
“Call center will also be established, which will cater to many unemployed youth in the form of employment opportunities,” he said.
The official said that engineers and those associated with IT will also be able to get employment, adding, “the IT tower will be ready with an amount of 50 crores.”
The IT tower will have IT companies and produce units besides data room and conference hall, gym, yoga room, cafeteria and all kinds of facilities and infrastructure will be provided on the pattern of Gurugram and Bangalore.
“The IT tower will be kept reserved for foreign investment only and the minimum investment will be Rs.100 crore,” sources said adding, “However, the foreign company can make anyone its local partner, but the stake will not exceed 49 percent.”

Notably, the administration has recently signed a MoU with Dubai for the construction of real estate, industrial park, IT tower and multi-purpose tower in Jammu and Kashmir.
