3.9 magnitude earthquake hits 61 kilometres east of Katra town in Jammu

In Jammu and Kashmir, an earthquake of magnitude 3.9 on the Richter scale hit around 61 kilometres east of Katra town in Jammu, in the early hours today.

Sources said that the National Centre for Seismology said that the tremors were felt at around 2.20 a.m.

The depth of the earthquake was 10  kilometres below the ground.

The earthquake occurred at 33.07 degrees latitude & 75.58 degrees longitude at 10 kilometres depth. Further details are awaited.
