Heavy rainfall continues in several districts of Madhya Pradesh; Schools to remain closed
In Madhya Pradesh, heavy rainfall is continuing in many districts since the last several days. In view of the incessant rains in the state, schools are still closed in many districts including Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Ratlam, Sagar, Vidisha, Ashoknagar and Shivpuri.
Sorces said that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is constantly monitoring the situation. After inspecting the rain affected areas, Mr. Chouhan informed that in the last 24 hours 405 persons trapped in waterlogging have been rescued and about 2,300 people have been shifted to safer places.
The situation is worst in 14 districts of the state. Of these, 10 districts have recorded more than six inches of rain so far. Betwa River is flowing three feet above the danger mark in Vidisha district.
About 100 villages are submerged in the flood water. 163 villages of Raisen have been engulfed in flood water. Shivna River in Mandsaur and Parvati River in Guna are flowing at their maximum level.
There are 13 gates of Bargi Dam open in the state. At the same time, 12 gates of Indira Sagar Dam, eight of Gandhi Sagar Dam, 14 of Mohanpura and 18 of Omkareshwar Dam have to be opened.
