Telangana: BJP State President B. Sanjay Kumar, MLA Raja Singh arrested in Hyderabad
In Telangana, BJP State President and Member of Parliament B. Sanjay Kumar and Member of Legislative Assembly Raja Singh have been taken into custody by Police on different issues.
Sanjay Kumar was arrested following his call for state-wide protests against the arrest of his party workers a day earlier outside ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi MLC K. Kavita’s residence in Hyderabad.
She is daughter of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. The workers were protesting against Kavitha’s alleged involvement in the alleged liquor scam involving Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.
Sanjay was about to stage a sit-in at Jangaon when Police took him into custody.
BJP workers resisted his arrest and stopped Police vehicles before hundreds of personnel dispersed them and took Sanjay away.
Several BJP workers were injured as Police opened lathi-charged them. Meanwhile, TRS leaders including Ministers and senior partymen stood beside Kavita extending solidarity with her.
Earlier, BJP MLA from Ghoshamahal Raja Singh has been taken into custody by local Police for his alleged derogatory remarks on a video relating to a recent show by comedian Munawar Faruqui in Hyderabad.
A case was booked against Raja Singh at the Dabeerpura Police Station. Meanwhile, Police stepped up security in some parts of Hyderabad following protests and counter protests in this regard.
