Panel for implementation of 3-tier faculty structure at GMC Sgr, Jmu

Health and Medical Education Department has constituted a seven members committee for the implementation of a three-tier faculty structure at Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar and Government Medical College Jammu.

The committee will implement the three-tier structure in Government Medical College Srinagar and Government Medical College Jammu as per National Medical Commission (NMC) norms

Earlier this year, the Government of India notified teacher eligibility qualifications in medical institutions. As per the gazette notification issued by the Government of India, norms were issued for faculty appointment and promotion.

The norms were issued for the appointment of faculty during the transition period and determination of teaching designations for consultants/specialists employed by the Central Government or State Governments or local self-government or public-funded institutions for establishing a Medical College/starting a Postgraduate course.
An order in this regard has been issued by Bhupinder Kumar, Secretary to the Government, Health and Medical Education Department.

“Sanction is hereby accorded to the constitution of a Committee comprising following Officers for implementation of three-tier faculty structure as per National Medical Commission (NMC) norms in Government Medical Colleges Jammu/Srinagar, on the pattern of new Government Medical Colleges”, reads the order.

As per the order, the Principal, of Government Medical College, Srinagar will be the Chairperson of the committee, the Principal, of Government Medical College, Jammu shall be the Co-Chairperson, the Director of Finance H&ME Department will be a member, Director Coordination, New GMCs, J&K will be a member, Additional Secretary (CK) H&ME Department will be a member, Deputy Secretary (S) H&ME Department will be a member and Under Secretary (PG) H&ME Department will be a member-Secretary.
The committee shall submit recommendations within 15 days, positively from an issue of this order.
