Sensex declines 443 points; Nifty down to 123 points in afternoon trade

The Sensex and the NSE Nifty today logged losses of more than half a percent in the afternoon trade. The Index of the top 30 companies at the Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex, was trading below 59,700 points while the Nifty, the Index of the top 50 companies at the National Stock Exchange, was below 17,800 level.

The Sensex declined 443 points to trade at 59,662 and the Nifty was down 123 points to deal at 17,772 when reports last came in. At the forex market, the rupee was trading at 81 rupees and 66 paise against the US dollar in the afternoon deals.
