Countdown begins for welcome of BJY in J&K
In what looks like as the final scene, if not with any official tag, countdown has begun for return of veteran leader from Jammu region Choudhary Lal Singh to his parent party Congress. It was a decision taken few months back, only that the loud voice for and from Jammu was awaiting ‘right’ time for ‘ghar vapsi’ and did not settle this amid a simple ceremony.
If sources within the party are to be believed Lal Singh is all set to make a re entry into his old organisation on January 19 amidst gala political celebrations, one of his kind with huge number of his supporters also following him in the act. While Lal Singh had already decided to come back to Congress fold, he looked Bharat Jodo Yatra as opportune time to make the move as real, sources said and the party also bargained this for reciprocating gala show for welcome of BJY when it would reach Lakhanpur, the gateway for entering into its final phase in the UT of J&K.
While Lal Singh was warming up to Congress for quite some time, much before it dawned upon the leaders like Tara Chand, Muzaffar Parray, Balwan Singh that Congress is emerging as appropriate choice in the fast changing political scene of J&K, he did not agree to join along with the Ghulam Nabi Azad’s ‘DAP’ tagged leaders, even though all of them are also senior leaders and they too joined amidst presence of big leaders of the party in New Delhi.
He wanted his ‘solo’ entry back into the party albeit on his own conditions and the way he thought of, in a big way and nothing better than BJY could have come as opportunity, sources said adding that he is working hard preparing his supporters in a bid way both for welcoming the BJY as also making his return into the party as an eventful, exciting, rather a memorable moment,
When around 17 leaders from J&K came back into the Congress fold few days back, the senior leaders announced that time some more leaders would join the party soon. While Lal Singh’s entry was seen as one, Dr Manohar Lal, another leader not happy with his stint in DAP is another one who may join, though uncertainty still looms over his decision for a couple of his personal political calculations as he is apprehensive about some struggle at the time of polls, some more strong contenders being already in line in his area.
